According to Penguin Random House, the memoir will include her childhood on the South Side of Chicago to her years as an executive balancing motherhood and work, through her time spent as first lady.
While the terms of the Penguin Random House deal for books by both Barack and Michelle Obama were not disclosed, the Financial Times reported in February 2017 that the auction among rival book publishers had topped a record-breaking $60 million. Although the former president and his first lady wrote separate memoirs under terms of the deal, they shopped their projects jointly.

Penguin Random House published the former presidenta��s three previous books, including a�?Dreams of My Fathera�? and a�?The Audacity of Hope.a�?
The Obamas had announced last year that they planned to donate a portion of their profits to charity, including to the Obama Foundation.
